Privacy Policy

Effective date: May 23, 2026

Overview

DropDroid is a local-only file sharing utility for Android. The app is designed to receive files directly from a paired desktop sender over a reachable local connection.

Data collection

DropDroid does not collect, sell, rent, or share personal information. DropDroid does not upload transferred files to the internet, cloud storage, GitHub, analytics services, advertising networks, or any external server operated by the app developer.

Files you transfer

Files selected by the user are transferred directly from the desktop sender to the Android app over the local connection. Received files are stored on the Android device in the selected save folder. The user controls what files are sent and may delete received files using Android file management tools.

Local pairing and security data

DropDroid uses QR pairing to establish a trusted local session. Pairing secrets, device identifiers used for pairing, nonces, timestamps, and file hashes are used only to validate local transfers and protect against unsigned or replayed requests.

Permissions

DropDroid may request network access, Wi-Fi/network state access, camera access for QR scanning, notification permission for receiver status, foreground service permission for background receiving, and APK install request permission when the optional APK install helper is used.

Third parties

DropDroid does not include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. If the user opens external links such as the GitHub repository, those websites are governed by their own privacy policies.

Children's privacy

DropDroid is a general utility and is not directed to children. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

This policy may be updated when DropDroid changes. The effective date above will be changed when a material update is made.
